Join my Edmodo group

Edmodo can be a great tool to use in the classroom to teach, give over lessons, share links and post assignments all in one. It is a great and friendly-user site. The instructions for both teachers and students are clear and direct allowing for easy access. Edmodo is helpful for those that are done with the paper age and find the online environment conducive for learning. Teachers can learn a lot about students through polls and direct feedback. Students can also get feedback and comments on grades as they work along in their lessons.

Week 10- Simulation Gaming
I chose the game Flight which is an action game and is actually a lot of fun. Here is the link if you want to try it http://www.addictinggames.com/action-games/flight-game.jsp.
1.Text: As you begin the game there a pop ups along the way giving instructions as to how to play. There is a lot of opportunity for bonuses in this game. Each time you pass one there is pop up to explain what that bonus is and what the item will give you. Players need to identify the main idea of the texts and retain that information as they go along in the game.
Visual-graphic elements: Players learn that objects can mean something such the different models that represent a specific bonus (i.e. bumping into a better model plane can boost your plane). Students also learn how to physically lift the plane a send it off exercising their visual and spacial skills.
Audio elements: In this game there is music in the background that matches the theme of the game and encourages players to reach their goal.
2. The goal of the game is to get the paper airplane which contains a letter across London to Santa.
3. In short, you must fly the paper airplane to a location. Along the way you pick up stars which are equivalent to money. There are also other items you may bump in to that are bonuses. Each round you have opportunists to upgrade your plane based on the money you earned in order to enable a better flight.
4. scenario design embedded in curriculum since students learn how to play better and are more comfortable with what the game has to offer after they practice more and more. Being familiar with the scenario design has a big effect on their performance and goal achieving.

Technology Integrated Lessons
I created 5 lesson plans all in one covering a history unit on the 13 colonies. Each lesson is broken up by days with its objectives and standards combined.
